The Addis Ababa City Government has accomplished study and design for Traffic Management Center (TMC) Building Project which is expected to provide space for Intelligent Transposition System (ITS) accommodating staff of the Traffic Management Authority (TMA), ITS equipment. It provides real-time traffic data collection, data processing and disseminating information thereby addressing the traffic congestion mobility problems of the City.
As part of the national and World Bank’s Safeguard Policy Requirements, the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau (AATB) accomplished Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the project (March 2020) through hiring Ethio-Infra Engineering (EIE) in association with Assefa Addisu Development Consultancy. The ESIA study identifies environmental social including Gender Equity and Gender-Based Violence, proposed mitigation and management measures to be included during the project development phases to avoid/minimize unwanted repercussions associated with the construction of TMC building and operation of the ITS system. download the full document
